The Citizens Police Academy (CPA)
is a free 12 week course.
The Killeen Police Department conducts a Citizen's Police Academy. There are a total of twelve weeks of instruction, including presentations of the functions and operations of the departments various investigative and administrative divisions. It is an educational and informative program that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about the issues that effect law enforcement efforts in the City of Killeen.

Subjects covered during the CPA include:
- Criminal Investigation Division
- Patrol Division
- Gangs
- Hostage Negotiation
- A day at the Range with S.W.A.T
- Evidence & Forensic Investigation
- Youth Services Unit
- Organized Crime Unit
One of the extra-curricular requirements to graduate from the Citizens Police Academy is a 4-hour ride along with a KPD Officer at a time that is convenient for you.

Citizen's Police Academy Application
Applicants must reside in or be employed within the city limits of Killeen and agree to submit to a background check, which includes a criminal history inquiry. There is no cost to anyone who enrolls.
